A Side Table in Cherry Wood
This study of a side table was designed and built over the course of one semester in an elective furniture studio. The French-inspired sculptural form accentuates the cherry wood grain with its opposing convex and concave forms. The chamfered corner of each leg was shaped with hand tools and reflects in the table top to offer a contemporary take on the traditional cabriole. Mortises and tenons join the structure and the wood is finished with four coats of Danish oil.
